In short
Competitor tracking ranks every business AI assistants name for your sector's questions, then lets you put yourself head to head with any one of them. You see who is recommended instead of you, by how much, on which assistants, and for which questions.
Who does AI recommend instead of me?
The rankings list every business named in your sector's answers, with its visibility, share of voice and average place. Your own row is highlighted, wherever it falls. Rivals are the businesses the assistants actually name, not a list you have to maintain.
How does the head-to-head comparison work?
Pick any rival and Visibility compares the two of you measure by measure: visibility, share of voice, how often each is named in the top three, how often each is linked, and average place. The better figure on each line is marked.
It also counts the questions: how many you come up for more often, how many they do, and how many are level. That turns "they are ahead" into a list of specific questions to work on.
Can I see who gets named first?
Yes. The position table shows, for you and the leading rivals, what share of mentions came first, second, third and so on. Being named fifth in a long list and being named first are very different outcomes, and people act on the first two or three.
What should I do with a competitor's lead?
Look at what the assistants cite for the questions you lose. If a rival's own site is cited and yours is not, compare the pages. If a guide or review site is cited, check whether you are listed on it, and correctly. The guide chapter on consistency covers where to start.
Common questions
Do competitors see that I am tracking them?
No. Your comparisons are private to your account. Competitors are only ever shown what we publish for everyone: the questions, and which businesses were named.
Which competitors are included?
Every business the assistants named in answers to your sector's questions. If a rival never comes up in AI answers, it has no AI visibility to compare, which is itself worth knowing.
Can I compare with a business outside my sector?
Comparisons are within a sector, because they rest on the same questions asked of the same assistants at the same time. Comparing across sectors would compare different questions.
